My completely honest review of Lularoe

I love being a blogger. I get to try all sorts of things and report to you if they are worth your time and money. This time, thanks to a college friend, I get to report on clothes!

I’ve heard of Lularoe for a year or so, but never purchased anything. I have always heard amazing things about their leggings, but I don’t wear leggings as pants so I was never really interested.

I changed my mind once I looked at the catalog and saw all the tunics available. My style is typically a tunic with skinny jeans and ballet flats. So when Melanie asked me to review a baby-bump-friendly tunic and dress, of course I said yes!

I chose a red and blue striped Irma tunic in medium, and an orange striped Carly dress in X-small. I definitely could have ordered the Irma in a small and been totally comfortable. If I get any future Irmas, I will get the small. Even with a baby belly, I would have enough room (for reference, I’m usually a size 4 when not pregnant).

Because I am no stylist, I consulted Pinterest for ways to style my tunic. I chose to pull it in a bit by adding a button and wrapping string around it (you can also use a small hair tie). Belting is also an option. If I were more stylish, I would have such a belt.

Pregnancy update: We are 16 weeks along! I’ve been feeling little movements since about halfway through week 9, and definitely stronger now! Last week my coworkers started to comment that I look pregnant now. I think I’m a pretty good size for being 4 months, personally.

Review: I LOVE these pieces! I was skeptical of the Lularoe signature “buttery softness” that I heard about. Honestly, I thought it was a selling technique; a catch-phrase. Ya’ll, I was wrong. These are so soft, I feel like I’m wearing pajamas but I’m actually dressed for the day! I wear them to work and love that they are professional enough for work and comfortable enough for my growing belly. I also appreciate that these clothes are modest with decent necklines and longer hemlines. It’s unfortunately very difficult to find maternity clothes that are both stylish and modest.

And what is a maternity shoot without a couple family pics?? We had a great afternoon with our photographer/barista friend, Emma Lang! Emma was one of the first people we got to know in this town (at the coffee shop, of course) and she’s absolutely wonderful. Warm, genuine, and expressive, she’s a great friend and made the afternoon so much fun. Her art, Wild Iowa, decorates our home in the form of drawings and Christmas ornaments. She has all sorts of nature-inspired pieces. You can follow her instagram here.

Here is my favorite picture from the entire day!

Review: From Home With Love

From Home With Love - send your family their favorite meals!

Have you ever wanted to send someone a home cooked meal, but you lived too far away? What if you could find a Post Office-approved way to send your friends and family a batch of your famous lasagna, as well as a tin of their favorite cookies? Now you can!

From Home With Love is a company with a really cool idea: You cook food for your family, and they provide not only all the packaging (including the container for the food and the packing tape!), but they also pick up the box and deliver it for you!

The box – with toddler feet for size reference (and because he was curious!)

I was given the opportunity to review the packaging, and I have to say, I was impressed! I chose not to send food to anyone, but I did want to review the materials and my overall impressions.

From Home With Love packing

Pros:

  • They supply literally everything. As I stated before, even the container for the food and the oft-forgotten packing tape are included in the package. From Home With Love thermometer
  • The instructions are very clear. They specify exactly what to do, and they include pictures to illustrate how to correctly pack the food.
  • Everything is BPA-free, so no worries about putting your hot food in a disposable container (you freeze it before you send it so it stays fresh)From Home With Love gel From Home With Love container
  • The company drops off the box and picks up the food when you are ready to send it! You don’t even have to go anywhere. This would be a great service for homebound family to send home cooked meals (I know of some elderly who love to cook for their family but aren’t able to drive any longer – this would be perfect!).

Cons:

  • My only “con” would be that it is an awful lot of packaging for one meal. Here we can recycle cardboard, but the styrofoam insulation needs to be thrown away after it’s been used. Hopefully soon it can be replaced with a green-er option.

In all, I think this is such a wonderful idea. I will definitely keep it in mind now that we live 350 miles away from our family and friends! From Home With Love mint!

Review: Bundle Organics juice

safe juice for pregnancy, pregnancy snacks, healthy pregnancy snacks, pregnancy food, pasteurized juice, juice for expectant moms, organic juice, organic snacks, organic food
March is National Nutrition Month, and I’m excited to participate with a few fun product reviews!

Bundle Organics was founded in 2013 with a great concept: organic juice combinations conveniently packaged for quick consumption. What sets them apart is that the juices are pasteurized. For pregnant women, the unfortunate threat of listeria can keep some women from eating as many fruits and vegetables as they should, so Bundle Organics takes away that concern. They also fortify the juices with extra nutrients for baby like folic acid, iron, and vitamin E.

I love that they don’t add any artificial dyes to the juices. I think the colors are beautiful because I happen to love food in its unadulterated form, but others might not find the color particularly appetizing. If that’s you, drink it straight from the bottle.

I also appreciated the no added sugar. I don’t really like for Tristan to have a lot of sugar, and I’ve diluted juice for him in the past. He couldn’t get enough of these juices and I finally had to give him the empty bottle to play with after he had his share.

There are 3 varieties of juice blends so far: berries, green, and orange. All three contain ginger and lemon, which is as good for the immune system as it is for pregnancy nausea. The berries blend contains a variety of the beautiful dark berries, spinach, and kale. The green blend is primarily kale and apple, and the orange features oranges and carrots.

Bundle Organics also launched a line of doctor approved herbal teas for pregnant and nursing moms on Kickstarter earlier this year. I’m going to anxiously await the Rooibos/Orange/Cardamom/Mango tea! I’m not pregnant, it just sounds delicious!

Pros:

  • All juices (and teas!) are organic
  • Lots of fruits and veggies in each bottle
  • Easy to consume – shake and drink!

Cons:

  • Delicate enzymes of raw fruits and vegetables are denatured in the pasteurization process. However, they are still packed with good nutrients, and I understand why they would need to be pasteurized since they are a consumable product that ships to people. Raw juice wouldn’t be so fresh-tasting.
  • I’m not usually a fan of fortified things. I think most nutrition can and should be found through food alone and not synthetic additives. For example, someone with the MTHFR gene can’t properly use folic acid and need the folate version. Perhaps if they were to change their fortification to the more natural folate rather than folic acid, their audience would be larger.
  • They are a bit on the pricey side. However, they are all organic ingredients, and it’s definitely cheaper than making a bottle of juice that size from scratch on your own.

All in all, I’m actually very impressed with this company and these products, and I will probably be purchasing some in the future, especially for any future pregnancies.

If you want to purchase Bundle Organics juices, you can also purchase them online through Target (if you live near a Target, choose the “ship to store” option so you don’t have to pay shipping).

Share this with an expectant mom in your life!
